Verzögerung bei der Bereitstellung von Adobe-Lizenzen
Due to the migration of the software shop, there are currently delays in the transfer of Adobe licenses. The automated overnight process for license assignment is temporarily unavailable.
Current Status:
Until further notice, licenses will be entered manually once a week.
After the manual transfer, you can assign the licenses as usual.

Software JMP: Keine zentrale Beschaffung und Verteilung von Lizenzen
There will no longer be any central procurement or distribution of JMP software licenses at
RWTH in the future. The reason for this is that JMP is no longer owned by SAS and is now
introducing new license terms and structures. JMP Statistical Recovery LLC will no longer conclude
a contract with RWTH Aachen; the current license period remains in effect until June 29, 2025.
During the central review of the contract basis and the framework conditions, among others,
the following deficiencies were identified:
1. JMP Statistical Recovery LLC, with which users must enter into a contract, is currently not
certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework program.
2. There is a risk that subcontractors outside the EU may be used without prior notice.
3. If students are required to use the software for their studies, they cannot do so on a
voluntary basis, because creating an account is mandatory.
In light of these serious deficiencies, we strongly advise against using JMP software!
Consequently, central procurement via the software shop or by BANF is no longer possible.
Software Shop Changeover
The SoftwareOne software shop (interim shop) is now being replaced by a new software shop from Academic Software.
The changeover from the interim solution to the new software shop will take place on July 28, 2025.
On July 28, 2025, the A products (software provided centrally by the IT Center) will be deactivated in the interim shop. From July 29, 2025, these will only be available through the new software shop.
The interim shop for students will also be shut down on July 28, 2025. From July 29, 2025, students will also be able to purchase their software via the new software shop.

NX Lizenzen abgelaufen
The NX licenses expired on May 31, 2025. They are provided by the Institute of Machine Elements and Systems Development (IMSE). The institute has already been informed and is working on obtaining temporary licenses.

Routing über neue XWiN-Router
During this period, the routing of the previous XWiN routers (Nexus 7700) will be switched to the new XWiN routers (Catalyst 9600). These routers are essential for RWTH's network connection. This changeover also requires the migration of the DFN connection, which is switched redundantly to Frankfurt and Hannover, and the RWTH firewall to the new systems.
There will be complete or partial outages of the external connection during the maintenance window. All RWTH services (e.g. VPN, email, RWTHonline, RWTHmoodle) will not be available during this period. The accessibility of services within the RWTH network will be temporarily unavailable due to limited DNS functionality.

Einschränkungen bei Mathematica-Lizenzserver
During the maintenance on March 6, the planned restriction of the Mathematica license server was activated.
From now on, access is only possible for institutions that have purchased licenses via the store.

Kurze SSO-Störung
This evening around 20:25 - 21:00 there was a performance low in the SSO service and was checked by the specialist department during this time. The problem has been solved and fast logins without waiting times are possible again.

Nach der Störung vom 16.12.24 bis 18.12.24 mussten Konfigurationsänderungen in Overleaf eingespielt werden.
Das hat zur Folge, dass teilweise per Default in ShareLaTex nach der Konfigurationsönderung die Tex. Version 2017 verwendet wird. Hierdurch sind Projekte zunächst nicht kompilierbar. Nutzende werden gebeten, die Tex Version 2023 oder 2024 auszuwählen. Danach funktioniert die Rekompilierung wieder.
Wartung der Lizenzserver
In der angegebenen Zeit findet eine Wartung der Linux und Windows Lizenzserver, sowie der SAM Server statt. Es kann hierbei zu Unterbrechungen bei der Nutzung unserer Netzwerklizenzserver bzw. des SAM-Tools kommen.
Single sign-on and MFA mailfunction
At the moment, single sign-on and multi-factor authentication are sporadically disrupted. We are already working on a solution and ask for your patience.
SPSS: Lizenzserverwechsel / change of license server
Please note that the license server for the software SPSS has changed. The name of the new license server is entered in the file “ITC_README_Lizenzinformationen.txt”. The ITC readme file can be found in the download link that will be sent to you after ordering. The instructions “SPSS_Lizenzserverumstellung.pdf” for changing the license server for an existing installation can also be found on the download server.
The old license server can still be used until October 31, 2024.
Migration Cloudspeicher von Adobe Acrobat
Wir wurden von Adobe darüber informiert, dass ab dem 28th Oktober 2024 die Adobe Acrobat-Benutzerinnen und Benutzer von der Document Cloud in die Adobe Creative Cloud migriert werden. Danach werden die Cloud-Daten von Adobe Acrobat und den Produkten der Adobe Creative Cloud in einem einheitlichen Adobe-Cloud-Speicher in der EU (Irland) abgelegt.
Die Migration findet statt, wenn Acrobat von den Benutzerinnen und Benutzern gerade nicht verwendet wird. Wenn ein Benutzer jedoch während der Migration eine Aktion durchführt, kann es sein, dass eine Fehlermeldung angezeigt wird.

Expired certificate
Due to the expired certificate for idm.rwth-aachen.de, no IdM applications and the applications that use RWTH Single Sign-On can be accessed.
We are working on a solution.
- An insecure connection message is displayed when calling up IdM applications.
- When calling up applications with access via RWTH Single Sign-On, a message about missing authorisations is displayed.
The certificate has been updated and the applications can be accessed again. Please delete the browser cache before accessing the pages again.

Das neue Lizenzfile für Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical beinhaltet kein Inventor Pro kleiner als Version 2022 mehr.
Somit ist die alte Versionen 2021 nicht mehr enthalten.
Diese Version stehet ab dem 06.08 nicht mehr zur Verfügung und kann auch nicht mehr vom Hersteller bezogen werden.
Falls Sie diese Version noch im Einsatz haben müssen Sie auf Version 2022 oder höher Updaten.
Autodesk Inventor Pro Version 2020 und 2021
Das neue Lizenzfile für Autodesk Inventor beinhaltet kein Inventor Pro kleiner als Version 2022 mehr.
Somit sind die alten Versionen 2020 und 2021 nicht mehr enthalten.
Diese Versionen stehen ab dem 13.08 nicht mehr zur Verfügung und können auch nicht mehr vom Hersteller bezogen werden.
Falls Sie diese Versionen noch im Einsatz haben müssen Sie auf Inventor Pro Version 2022 oder höher Updaten.
Hosts of RWTH Aachen University partly not accessible from networks of other providers
Due to DNS disruption, the name servers of various providers are currently not returning an IP address for hosts under *.rwth-aachen.de.
As a workaround, you can store alternative DNS servers in your connection settings, e.g. the Level3-Nameserver (4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1) or Comodo (8.26.56.26 und 8.20.247.20). It may also be possible to reach the RWTH VPN server, in which case please use VPN.

Due to a change in the AutoDesk licence file, Inventor 2024 was not available from 12.08.2024 - 14.08.2024.
All other Inventor versions were not affected.

Multifactor-Authentication for the RWTH Single Sign-On
Since July 2, 2024, the RWTH Single Sign-On (SSO) and the login of all SSO-connected services is protected with multifactor-authentication (MFA). In addition to an individual password, users must now enter a second factor when logging in. The second factor must be generated in Selfservice [1] via the Token Manager. Durch den plötzlichen sprunghaften Anstieg des Bedarfs an Lizenzen für das Online-Umfragetool SoSci sind derzeit die Lizenz erschöpft. An der Beschaffung weiterer Lizenzen (Teilnehmer einer Umfrage) wird gearbeitet.
Es stehen weitere Lizenzen für SoSci zur Verfügung.
