Due to a technical malfunction in the storage infrastructure (Ceph cluster), various IT services at RWTH are currently experiencing outages and restrictions.
Currently, this affects the digital submission of theses (DivA) when uploading or downloading documents.

The attempt notification for employees in examination administration currently contains the following errors:
1) When a student takes an exam for the first time, the student file and the candidate list in examination management display a “0” instead of a ‘1’ in the “Valid + in-progress Attempts (acc. to SPO)” column. The current registration is therefore not currently counted.
2) If previous attempts below an exam node are distributed across several equality nodes (GHK) and the current registration is the first at the GHK, the count in the interface is also one attempt too low. Here, too, the current registration is not counted. Example: A “2” is displayed instead of a “3” if two negative performances have already been achieved at another GHK and the current registration marks the third attempt.
Note for both cases:
As soon as a grade is entered for the current registration, the counter jumps to the correct number of attempts, so that there is no risk to subsequent processes and no additional exam attempts are possible for students.

The error was fixed with the update that was installed during routine maintenance on 27.08.2025.

Expected fix with the next update on 16.06.2025.

During this period, the routing of the previous XWiN routers (Nexus 7700) will be switched to the new XWiN routers (Catalyst 9600). These routers are essential for RWTH's network connection. This changeover also requires the migration of the DFN connection, which is switched redundantly to Frankfurt and Hannover, and the RWTH firewall to the new systems.
There will be complete or partial outages of the external connection during the maintenance window. All RWTH services (e.g. VPN, email, RWTHonline, RWTHmoodle) will not be available during this period. The accessibility of services within the RWTH network will be temporarily unavailable due to limited DNS functionality.

The update brought many new features, but some functionalities have also been changed. Two of these could affect the user experience and we would like to draw your attention to possible workarounds:
1) Users who have activated the “dark” color mode in the Windows settings will now see the wiki in dark mode. However, some pages have not yet been fully configured for this mode. If you therefore have problems with readability in some places, you can deactivate the dark color mode system-wide or - if you have editing rights in the wiki - switch to the light mode of the wiki via your profile picture under “Design”.
2) The links “page as PDF” in the “Download” box at the top of each page are often no longer functional. However, the page can still be downloaded as a PDF: to do so, go to the three-dot menu at the top right of the page and select the “Export to PDF” option.

The readability in dark mode has been improved for the most part. The PDF links will gradually be updated on the pages - until then, the workaround mentioned above can be used.

Due to changes in the S3 storage backend of the services GitLab and application “Submission of Final Thesis” in RWTHonline, connections to the storage backend will be interrupted during the maintenance period from 7 - 8 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. Conditional exam registrations in RWTHonline are currently not automatically checked by the system.
Explanation: Normally, RWTHonline automatically checks six days before an examination date whether conditionally registered students have the prerequisites to participate in an examination. If yes, students are (permanently) registered, if no, they are deregistered. Unfortunately, this system process does not currently work and students remain in the status “conditionally registered”.
Workaround: The manually triggered prerequisite check still works. Employees with the function "PV-Teilnehmerverwaltung" or "PV-Teilnehmerverwaltung Administration" at the organization of an affected examination date (or hierarchically superior organizations) can carry this out.
