Es wird zu Unterbrechungen der Konnektivität aller angeschlossenen Systeme kommen. Inkl. WLAN, Telefonie, VPN etc.

Auf den Switches der Serie C9300 und C9400 werden Updates installiert.

Während der Installation kann es zu Unterbrechungen der Netzwerkkonnektivität kommen. Davon können unter anderem das WLAN, die Telefonie sowie Instituts-VPNs betroffen sein.
Auch nachgelagerte Switche, z.B. c2960 oder c9200 sind betroffen.

Zentrale Services sind von den Reboots nicht betroffen. Dazu zählt beispielsweise der RWTH-VPN.

Aufgrund eines Software-Updates werden diese Switche neu gestartet.

We have received preliminary information about upcoming security updates that we will need to install on a number of network components of the RWTH network.

Generally, installation of software updates is a routine procedure that we perform quite regularly in order to ensure continued secure operation and management of our network. This time around, we don't have detailed information about when exactly updated software will be available to us, which obviously makes planning a bit more difficult. It may be necessary to install updates and reboot network components on short notice, which may cause short but potentially noticeable service interruptions. We try as much as possible to do this outside of regular usage hours.

We will provide specifics about what systems will be concerned once we actually have this information ourselves.

Several central L3 switches will be receiving software updates tonight. These required security updates have been announced and provided to us at short notice.

We only expect minimal impact on network usage due to the redundant design of this part of our network. In addition, updates are performed at times of low network usage.

We'd like to apologise in case you do notice certain smaller effects (e.g. reduced throughput, momentary interruptions while we are performing a failover) during the software updates.

A central L3 switch necessary for RWTH's Wireless LAN needs a routine software update. This update should be possible without any impact on the users of our Wireless LAN networks. In any case, to be on the safe side, we'll install the software update outside of regular usage hours.
